I need to backup files and folders in an effort to rid a
virus. I am running XP Home. I need to be signed in as
system administrator how do I do this?

User Accounts in the Control Panel. > When you first sign on to Windows XP
you are automatically signed in as an Adminstrator. If you never changed
this or set up any User Accounts, you are probably already signed in as
Administrator.

For XP Home, you must boot the computer into Safe Mode to access the built in Administrator account, if you have created additional accounts. See Help and Support for "Safe Mode" for more information.

If you are the person who originally installed windows,
your account is already a member of the ADMINISTRATOR'S
Group.

If you didn't set up windows on your machine, ctr alt +
del > logoff > ctr alt + del > user name: administrator
password: LEAVE THIS FIELD BLANK
Hit Okay.

Keep in mind that backing up your folders will be backing
up a virus if you already have one.
