administering power saving settings

Do you have any idea how, in a non-Active Directory
environment (NT 4 domain) to either 1) allow non-admin
domain users to change thier own power settings on Win2K
workstations, or 2) failing that, to remotely configure
power settings over the network?

I've had no success with local policy, registry editing,
or web searches. Thank you!

Hi Steve,

Not sure if this is a workable solution in your "non-Active Directory environment (NT
4 domain)", but on my Win2000 standalone computer, my work-around is to grant
"Users" Full Control access to the following registry key, like this:

- Run regedt32.exe
- Navigate to the registry key given below
- On the Security menu, click Permissions
- Grant "Users" Full Control

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Controls Folder\PowerCfg

For information on how "To assign permissions to a registry key", search quote in
Registry Editor Help (Regedt32.chm).
