Admin password retrieval

I applied a password to the admin account on my desktop to prevent my son
from doing anything "bad" to my system, Now I can't remember the password, is
there a way to "find" it or change it?

Log in with another user account that has administrative privileges and
change it. If you have XP Home, you probably didn't put a password on
the built-in Administrator account since it is hidden in Regular Mode.
Go into Safe Mode by repeatedly tapping the F8 key as the computer is
starting up. This will get you to the right menu. Navigate using your
Up arrow key; the mouse will not work here. Once in Safe Mode, you will
see the normally hidden Administrator account. The default password is
a blank.

If you reset the built-in Administrator account's password in Home or
have Pro and don't remember the password, use NTpasswd to change the
built-in Administrator account's password to a blank.

Then go to the User Accounts applet in Control Panel and set passwords
that you will remember and make other desired changes.

How to Log On to Windows XP If You Forget Your Password or Your
Password Expires

Failing that, Linux-based password cracking utilities abound on the
Internet, freely available to anyone who can use Google.
