Admin Password in Recovery Console

Hello - and thank-you in advance for ANY help - all is appreciated.
We Have a couple of HPs with XP Pro upgrades. We had a savvy but
disgruntled employee change passwords, unknown to us - and a friend to the
tech. Both are gone, and password reset does not work. I have learned from
this site - and the Safe Mode, C+A+Del twice, blank password does NOT work.
I have booted an orig. XP Pro disk, tapped r - got to the recover console
entry, and it asks for password. Blank does not work - so I am sure that one
was previously entered (unknown).
I know that you gurus have some tips and tricks, and I would be extatic to
hear from you. Thanks, again.

Go to http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/ and download the boot
disk, this will enable you to reset any system password on an NT class
operating system.

Please - cross-post if you feel your post should be in more than one group.

First - I would suggest formatting/installing again
- if you don't need the data.

Second - I would suggest cloning them and then
formatting/installing again
- if you do need the data.
(Just pull the data from the image files.)

However - if you insist on logging into them and finding what other little
tricks may be waiting on them..

Try here..

No go? Try one of these:
Hack your password:
http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/bootdisk.html

Another Password Hack:
http://www.thomasmathiesen.com/itak/html/software.html

You could also create an Ultimate Boot CD and use one
of its utilities to do it.

I am appreciative for the info, I have visited the sites, and find them
pricey... howeve, I forgot to mention that the only other account is
"Student", no password, and limited account. There is very much valuable
info on the drive - educ. software and progress.. etc.
(Never let the admins rile a spec. ed teacher w/IT family!!)
Here is another question - I guess I will pay the $$$$ for the password
reset fix, but I am not in the know about the recovery console. Once admin
pw re-set, in the future should I be able to go there to re-set a password,
or am I delusional. (OK - I do not want to hear your thoughts about
delusional - only about XP Pro RC!!)
Thanks, again.

I do not understand, "... and find them pricey ..."
They were all free.. Free utilities.

FREE is the same as "no cost".
No cost things cannot be monetarily pricey - I would think.

If you are getting charged - you are not looking at the links I gave you.
Perhaps you should actually visit them..

Ah - if you ONLY visited the first one - tip 10 on that list is a pricey
one..

Why don't you try one of the three free ones that are AFTER my first link?
