Admin account

Dan

Hi,

I have a laptop computer which installed windows with only account that
has my name, so when I log into the computer, only my account name
shows up. I want to enable the administrator so I can log into that one
also.

Is this possible, how do I enable so the blue login screen (after the
computer starts) has the admin account and my account. How do I set the
password for the admin account?:

Thanks,
Dan.

p.d. It's Win XP Pro, on an IBM thinkpad.

To show the Administrator account on the welcome screen:
1. Click Start>>Run
2. In the box, enter "regedit" (without the quotes). Click OK
3. In the Registry Editor, navigate down to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\SpecialAccounts\UserList
4. Right-click on the empty area in the right panel
5. Click New>>DWORD Value. In the box, type the word Administrator
6. Double-click Administrator
7. In the Edit DWORD Value Window, under Value Data:, change the
number 0 to 1
8. Click OK
9. Close the Registry Editor
10. Reboot

To add a password to the Administrator account:
go to control panel/user accounts
click on the administrator account
click create a password
type in the desired password
type in the desired password again in the confirm box
create a password hint if desired
click the create password button
