How can I adjust the dropdown menu speed in WIN XP? when I go to Favorites
folders, I have subfolders of primary folders. Problem is when I move my
mouse over to subfolder, if I am slightly off line, the folder above or
below the primary folder will open.

The Mouse section of TweakUI allows you to change the menu speed.

Change the Speed of the Start Menu

Start | Run | Type: regedit | Click OK |
Navigate to >>>
HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Control Panel \ Desktop \
Value Name: MenuShowDelay
Data Type: REG_DWORD
Value Data: 400
(Values are all in milliseconds. 0 is the fastest, 400 is default.
A setting of 0 is virtually instantaneous.)

Log off, or restart Windows for the changes to take effect.

Or use TweakUI...

TweakUI
[+] Mouse

[[The Menu Speed slider control sets the speed at which cascading menus
automatically open when you move the mouse over them. The fastest setting
causes them to open immediately and the slowest setting is extraordinary
slow.]]
