Address book import and export selections are greyed out.

I would like to backup my address book but both the import and export
selections are greyed out and will not function. What's can cause this ???
I have attempted to select individual contacts as well as the entire
contacts folder to no avail.

Outlook has no address book. The Address Book is simply a view of your
Contacts. That's were the data resides so that's what you back up. Most
people just back up all their Outlook data at the same time. The file you
need to back up is your Personal Folders file (*.pst) It's where all the
mail, calendar, contacts etc are stored.
