Address Bar's history is randomly erased?

Unable to solve this one yet, so any help would be much
appreciated. I'm running XP Pro and IE6. Within the last
few months, I'll start up IE or it's already open, and
then click on the Address Bar pull down button and all my
previous url's that I've typed in/visited are gone?

First time it happened I noticed a problem changing the
time to keep history parameter. Had to try a number of
different day values till it finally took. Now all that
seems normal, but once every week or 2 the address
entries goes blank again. MS Knowledge base was no help
and searches here didn't find what I was looking for.

Your index may be damaged. Start with your TIF.
You may have to remove the history folder as well. Do it if still no joy
after cleaning up your TIF.

Delete/Empty Temporary Internet Cache completely

Henri - this is more in depth cleaning than I've done.
