Address Bar

I'm sorry if this has been a repeated question, but I didn't understand the
prior posts and I'm not sure if this is the same problem.

I use IE6. I previously was able to type in a URL in the address bar and
click "go" or hit "enter." I would then be taken to that website. Now, when
I hit "enter" or click "go," nothing happens. IE6 works if I open a
favorites website, and if I search for a website using Google, but I can't go
directly to the website by entering the website name. This happened just
recently and is this part of the Microsoft Update snafu. Is there a simple
fix, as if I read the fixes, it seems complicated and I'm not very savvy on
the computer to make fixes without having a fear of messing up my computer.

Thank you in advance.

What don't you understand?
What operating system?

Problems in Windows Explorer or the Windows shell after you install
security update MS06-015 (15 Apr-06)
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/918165

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/ms06-015.mspx has
been revised to v1.1 to reflect the issues in KB918165 and now points
to the KB918165.

Now may not be the time to learn Regedit.
I suggest you use a .reg file already done for the purpose.

http://patch-info.de/WinXP/Downloads/KB908531_Share-To-Web.zip

Unzip it, extract the .reg file to a folder, right-click it and select
Merge and confirm when asked.

I am having the same issue. The updates on or about April 13 have been
playing havoc on my browser. (Using XP) I have to continually do a system
restore to an earlier time before the "upgrades" take place in order to be
able to type an address and go to it. Otherwise the only web site I can
assess by typing the address is Microsoft. I have disabled any third party
browser buttons...but to no avail. I guess I just have to keep refusing the
updates or once they load, restore to an earlier time until I can find
another fix that will allow the "upgrades" to work.

Why not use the same answer?
