address bar/history

After I clear history (tools/internet
options/general/history/delete), and there is nothing on
the address bar dropdown, when I start to type, an address
bar dropdown menu appears giving me a list of previous
sites as suggestions (even though I have supposedly
emptied the history file). These same site addresses are
available when I access history through the history button
and "search" a word (even though I have supposedly emptied
the history file). How do I completely clean out history
so that none of this old information appears? I want to
start history off completely blank and fresh - and have
nothing dropdown from the address bar or be available from
the history files except those sites within the timeframe
I have selected (one day, two days, etc.).

Those files are NOT history files but are "cookies" and
are stored several places on your harddrive. The
simplest way to delete them is to rightclick your IE
(Internet Explorer) icon on your desktop/click properties
and click "Delete Cookies" and also click "Delete files"
but check the box for offline files also. Good luck.

Right click on the toolbar and select properties. Click the advanced tab at
the top and then click the clear button. This should eliminate your
problem.
