Address bar and Go button

Could anyone please help I am having a problem with my go button on both the
computer in my home and a laptop. When I enter a new URL in the address field
and then click enter or "Go" it does nothing, just displays an hour glass for
a second. However if i have already been to the site and its shows up in the
drop down box in the address field it will allow me to click on it and then
press enter.

this is becoming very annoying as i have to use me google search bar to
search the net for the home page i want for all of the sites i regularly
visit.

if you know how to solve this problem it would be a great help as i have
tried downloading recent updates for explore, that have no effect.

I have just started having the same problem. I can't get the drop box
either. Everything just freezes with the hourglass. Did you ever get
resolved? I went to the options - advanced but not sure what to update. This
is driving me crazy.

Since I have HP software, I went to the website that (e-mail address removed)
recommended and followed the instructions on the MS06-015 and VERCLSID exe
and it worked. I had to go into the registry but it worked.

I also starting having this completely annoying problem, but since I have an
HP system I followed the link provide by makgerald and it's fixed! The
editing the registry steps seemed intimidating but were actually really
easy...good luck!

yes i did just follow the link on the second post by makgerald and followed
the instruction. the problem has something to do with hp share ware and the
new version of internet explorer. When you have finished creating the new
document and closing the application in the task manager make sure that you
go through all of the processes opened and look for more than one of the
specific processes (i can't remember what the process is called but i know i
had about 10 running all the way through my task manager). if you dont close
down all of the processes then you may not be able to use the "Go" button or
address bar because there is still some conflict.

hope that's a help!
