I added 2,512mb ddr ram and when i start the computer it
only beeps! I have to unplug it and start it again.
Cmos comes up and I go through all that, still nothing!!
Does XP have a problem with 1gig of ram??
It works with a 256mb stick and a 512mb
My computer can use up to 2 gigs

No, XP can handle up to 4GB of RAM. The problem is that 1) your new RAM
is bad; or 2) your new RAM doesn't work on your motherboard; or 3) the
combination of old RAM and new RAM isn't working; or 4) you have to put
the RAM in certain slots. For instance, a lot of motherboards want the
largest memory stick in the first slot. Refer to your motherboard
manual for what kind of RAM you can add, in what combinations, etc.
