Adding Domain user to local account (XP Pro)

G

George Jew

Hello:

I am using COntrol Panel / User Accounts to add a domain
user to the local account. If the domain user is a
domain administrator, I have no problems. If the domain
user is not an administrator, I get the following error
message:

The user could not be added because the following error
has occurred: The trust relationship between the
workstation and the primary domain failed.

The domain controller is a SBS W2K server.

I have removed the XP workstation from the domain,
reboot, delete the computer account from the domain,
rejoin the XP workstation to the domain, reboot, and
still the same problem.

Thanks
George

The XP is pointed at the DC only for its DNS
services in the Tcp/Ip config, right ?

When you are on the DC and run the two tests
netdiag
dcdiag
are problems reported ?

You stated the following:

"I am using COntrol Panel / User Accounts to add a domain user to the local
account"

Do you mean that you are attempting to add a domain user to a local group?
If so,

What happens when you perform the following from a command prompt on the XP
box:

net localgroup name_of_group domain_name\user_name /add
