Hello everyone im having a problem when i try to install Realtek AC'97 Audio Sound device heres the error below

has not passed windows logo testing continuing your installation of the software may impair or destablize the correct operation of your system ect.

If anyone could help me fix this problem i would really Apreciate it thx

If i ignore the warning, and continue trying to install my comp shuts down and doesen't install anything. By the way maybe its because i dont have SP2 or SP1? Also iam running windows xp professional.

Ah could be - you really should have it updated with SP1 & 2 as your OS is going to be very insecure and unable to run certain hardware/software.

Are you using an up to date Antivirus?

Well according to your info you do have SP2 installed - but having no AV protection is going to cause you all sorts of problems if they haven't already


Are we talking about onboard sound, or are you trying to install a sound card? - what is the make/model of the sound?

Firstly go to windows update and make sure your OS is fully updated with the latest fixes.

Let me know what the make/model is of your PC and also the motherboard make/model if you know it.

Use CCleaner to clear up all the old cr*p on your PC, then download the latest AC97 Drivers and unzip to a folder on your desktop from the link I gave you earlier - remove the old driver download, then go to device manager and click install drivers and use the wizard to install from that download.

I used CCleaner tried installing ac97 drivers from the site u gave me tried going to device manager installing the ac97 and i still get the same error while it installs, has not passed windows logo testing to verify its compatibility with windows xp. If i continue anyways my comp just shuts down.

We really need to know your motherboard or PC type to help you, otherwise there isn't much we can do. You may have a SIS audio card rather than a realtek, but we wouldn't know this unless you found out any more info.
