Add/Remove Programs will not Launch

The Add/Remove Programs will not launch from control panel or Run. I've
tried a number of suggestions listed in the newsgroup and nothing seems to
work. Frustrating... Any help available would be greatly appreciated.

Try this :

WinXP Pro:
Start > Run
Type "gpedit.msc" (Without quotes)
Click OK > Go to (Under User) :
Administrative Templates\Control Panel\Add/Remove Programs
Right side, double click "Remove Add or Remove programs" > Set to "Not
configured"

WINXP Home :
Click Start > Run > "regedit" (Without quotes) > Click OK
Go to :
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Uninstall
Right side, double click "NoAddRemovePrograms" > Set it to 0
OR You can also delete the "NoAddRemovePrograms" value

Thanks for your help but I believe I got it resolved. FYI - I did the
following:

1. Searched files and folders for "appwiz.cpl"
2. 4 results for search
3. 1 of 4 results (Win32) version was corrupted (file size of 0)
4. Deleted file
5. System automatically generated new file

Everything works now. I dont have a clue how the file got corrupted but
apparently its fixed now. Thanks again for your time on this.

Glad to know that and scan your pc for virus, spyware etc.. Maybe a virus did that
so that you cannot uninstall it...
