add/remove programs not opening - help

Hi,

Using Win2k w/latest patches. When I go into
control panel and click add/remove programs
I get the error messgae: "The filename, directory name
or volume label is not correct." and also for some
reason notepad opens.

Any fix would be appreciated. Thanks.
