Add/Remove...Help.....

I have McAfee VirusScan on my computer and I need to remove it. When I
go to add/remove and click remove I get a message saying that I am
denied acess and the program cannot be removed. Why is that happening?

Does the account you are logged in under have
Administrator privileges ? Is it XP Home or XP Pro ? If
Home you must boot up in SAFE mode to get to the
Administrator account . . .
