Add ons not showing up

I am running vista with word 2000
I have an add on type 'Word.Addin.8'
It does not install, although it is shown in the the add on message box and
the tick box indicates it is running.
 
The add on may not be compatible with Windows Vista. Some of the features or
all of them may not work with a newer version of Windows. Look at the
compatibility of the add on and see if it is offered with Windows Vista.
