I just installed MS Office Professional 2003 and on starting Word ge"add in
template not valid c:\...\startup\~$nereader6.spirit.doc." Does anyone know
what this means and how to correct the problem?

It means that Word terminated abnormally at some point recently, leaving
behind a temporary file in the start-up folder, that it is now trying to
load as if it were an add-in.

Close Word. Browse to the start-up folder. Delete any files that begin with
"~$". For that matter, use Search and delete such files wherever they may
be. These are lock files that have no content, no enduring value, and no
significance if Word is not running.

That cleared up the problem. Thank you very much. The error was rally
bugging me.
