Hi, when I start any word document in Office XP or Outlook i get an error
message of "File Conversion -sneReader 6.dot" Underneath is a box which says
"select the encoding that makes your document readable". If i push ok, I get
another message "The add in template is not valid.
(C:\...\Startup\~$neReader6.dot" I think this is refering to a trial program
AbyyFine reader6, which is now no longer available due to the time trial.
How can i I remove this error.
Thanks for any help
I am using WIN XP Pro

So you didn't fancy buying the best OCR software around after your trial? :)

Not to worry. You will find the Finereader6.dot file in the Word startup
folder (as defined in tools > options > file locations > startup) Close Word
and delete the file.

If you find orphaned temp files in that folder eg ~$neReader6.dot delete
those also -see http://www.gmayor.com/what_to_do_when_word_crashes.htm

Hi Graham, all your post reads is:
****************************************************************************
is this my configuration? all other messages seem to read ok.

Hi Graham, Ive read your post via the link. Fine Print probably is the best
OCR, unforunatley I have no need for it at present! It came with an Epson
Scanner.
Ive been to >tools > options > file locations > startup, but the "start up
box" is empty. I can only see any refrence to neReader6.dot in
Tools>Templates & Addins, it is unchecked in there! Im afraid im getting a
bit lost with Templates etc, so please treat as newbie!
Thanks for your persistance.
