Add Database to SourceSafe

Michael

Office 2003 (same behavior with Office 2007 with Access Developer Extensions)
SourceSafe 6.0d
Access Source Control for Access 2003

SourceSafe has been setup for about three years now and we have been using
it to manage the Access objects. Recently I tried to add a new database to
SourceSafe and was unable to do so. What happens is this.

- I open the relevant Access database
- I select "Add to SourceSafe" from the menu
- I am prompted that the database will need to be closed first
- I click Yes

The problem occurs at this point as the database is not close, I still see
each of the objects in the database window.

Clearly something has changed but it has been so long since we have added a
database I don't know where to begin to identify what that might be.

I know that our version of SourceSafe is old, but it is patched to as recent
as I'm aware (6.0d).

Office is updated per Microsoft Update.

I reinstalled the Access Source Control add-in.

But what really baffles me is that this happens with both Access 2003 and
Access 2007. I even created a new repository thinking that perhaps the
repository is somehow causing this issue.

Help Please

thanks
Michael

Error on my part. The issue is only with Access 2007. The step in the
workflow is that I am not prompted for the objects to be added in 2007.

So a question I have is...
Does Access 2007 and the SourceSafe integration work with SourceSafe version
6?

VSS can interate with Access 2007. For information on how to, you can
take a look at the following article:

Actually 2007 is already integrated and I can create local databases from
SourceSafe in addition to checking in and checking out objects. What I can't
do is add a database to SourceSafe with Access 2007.

Perhaps it is that I'm using SourceSafe 6.0d?

Where are you looking? I tried the Developer settings from the Office
Button, where I expected to find it, and it's not there. The online help
said:
On the Source Control tab, in the Database Source Control group, click
Add Database To SourceSafe.

I didn't test it, but the button is there.

I see the button to "Add Database to SouceSafe". When I press it, as
expected, I am prompted that the database will need to be closed before it
can be added to SourceSafe. I click Yes and the database flashes and then
nothing.

In Access 2003 after clicking Yes, the database will close briefly and then
I am prompted with a list of objects to add.

With Access 2007, I never see the prompt to select objects and the database
is never added.

thanks,
Michael
