add a printer wizard don't work!!!

i tried to install a printer in my computer, when i install the driver from
the printer's cd this error appears: "error loading printui.dll the specified
procedure could not be found".Also it does the same thing when i download the
driver from the printer's web page.Also in the "found a new hardware wizard"
it shows me this error:"cannot install this hardware --name of printer-- an
error ocurred during the installation of the device.The specified procedure
could not be found".Now i tried to installed with the "add a printer wizard"
and the wizard doesn't work!! HELP PLEASE!!!
I tried different printers(i though it was them that have the problem) with
the same results

printui.dll ver 5.1.2600.1106 3/31/03 ( for WinXP SP-1) 510KB should be
present in windows\system32. Is it?

Is the CD containing the drivers up to date and contain Windows XP drivers,
or earlier versions?
Did you uninstall any older driver versions before attempting to install the
new ones?
Did you install the drivers before you connected the printer?
Is an antivirus program active while you are trying to install the drivers?
It sounds like the registry entries for the printer may be suspect. Have you
tried using a cleanup utility provided (hopefully) by the printer mfr?
What is the printer mfr and the model, and how are you connecting to the
computer?
