S

spinkster

hello all,
something has happened to my almost brand new PC and now
i cant close IE browser windows & get constant Capital
One credit card ads courtesy of adblaster2.info and my
tab & delete buttons have stopped working in a web
context.
I have tried spybot, pest control & adaware but still
cant get rid of adblaster2 or close my IE windows once
they are open - which slows my PC down to prehistoric
speeds.
a) how do i get rid of adblaster2?
b) anu ideas how i even got it?
c) anyone rate my chances of threatening Capital One for
using the firm - especially as they are starting to
crack down on companis that use 'heavy-handed',
indiscriminate marketing tools?
any help gratefully received - in exchange i can offer a
range of interesting info about fine wines, being mad and
a few other mirthsome topics....
spinkytastic thanks,
the Spinkster
;)

Hi Spinkster :)

You have malware or hijackware on your system causing the problem, which
your antivirus will not detect, as it does not have the same definitions. A
you have already run SpyBot and AdAware, fully updated, then download and
install and then run the programs below. They are free and very effective.
Follow the instructions carefully.

Trend Micro Housecall - Free On-Line Anti-Virus scan. Even if you have an AV
and ran it, do the Housecalls as it has different definitions.

Go to

or
http://www.aumha.org/a/parasite.php#hjt
and download HiJackThis. Unzip to a folder other than your Desktop or the
Temp folder, doubleclick HiJackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log"
button. Press that, save the log some place you remember where it is.
Most of what it lists will be harmless or even required, so DO NOT fix
anything yet.

Open the copy of your log in NotePad and make a copy. Then you can go here
