AdAware/SpyBot

Does anyone have an opinion/preference on AdAware and SpyBot. Which one do
you think is better/easier to use?

I am using both on several W2KPro SP4 computers. They do not create any
problems.

AdAware appears to be catching more spyware than Spybot; it is certainly
more difficult to mess up the system with it. On the other hand, Spybot has
some useful tools (like blocking bad cookies or locking IE start page).
Install both and see which one you prefer.

I use AdAware, but I have read a few reviews suggesting
that people use both. Neither AdAware nor Spybot catches
everything, but between the two of them there are supposedly
very misses.

Use both, update & scan weekly. They both often catch things the other

I'm currently using both. AdAware is definitely easier to use, but SpyBot
has a broader range of function. While people claim that each program
will catch things that the other misses, I haven't seen that on my system.
I normally run AdAware first, and once I've cleaned up whatever it has
found (typically tracking cookies), SpyBot always reports the system
clean.

If you pick up Spybot from a Google search, please be aware that there
are other similarly named products out there. If you are asked to pay,
it is not the real SpyBot S&D. (Heh! For some meaning of the word
"real" anyway).

At one time two paid for ads for "pay for" software came before SpyBot
S&D in the Google listings. Which is slightly dodgy, in my opinion. I
see that they have gone now.

If you like SpyBot S&D you could make a donation.

I have no connection with the writer of SpyBot S&D except as a happy
user of his software.
