There is a new version of AdAware out called AdAware SE -

Does anyone know anything about it? Good/Bad?

Any comments are appreciated.

I just installed it yesterday. Ran it once. No problems. As usual,
it found Alexa, Microsoft's own resident spyware. I keep my
computer clean, so that was all it turned up. This was after I ran
Spyware Search & Destroy, which found a few things. AdAware might
have turned up more had I run it first.

Ad-Aware has some useful advantages not least being much faster. However, it
completely ignored my current quarantine files and ignore list which was
situated in the Ad-Aware program folder. This may be a problem for some
people.

It now places settings, log files, quarantine and ignore list in "Documents
and Settings\<user>\Application Data\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware" folder.

So, before you run Ad-Aware the first time you might want to move the
quarantine and ignorelst files from the old Ad-Aware folder to this one for
continuity. It worked here on another computer.

Or you may want a clean slate. I noticed it didn't pick up some of the
innocent things I had it ignore before, so the definitions have improved.

Oh, and the uninstall strings in the registry are incorrect for all the
plugins. The paths miss out the plug-ins own folder (between "Plugins" and
"INSTALL.LOG").

Al,

I have been trying to figure out what Alexa was. Thanks for letting me know.
I guess it's ok to keep it installed.
