AdAware Definitions update issue

I downloaded it, and tried to open it with Ad-Aware and it says the download
fails. Isn't this the same file as on the Lavasoft site? Anyone else have
this problem manaully downloading?

Download the zip, extract the file Defs.ref and copy it into your
AdAware folder under Program Files. There will be an existing
module - so choose replace existing file.

I just tried this again with the file in Ad-Aware called "unregaaw". I
believe this is for unregistered users. It shows that it downloaded. So will
I have to download manually from now on?

Well now that it is downloaded, it only comes up with MRU list (16 objects)
What are these and how do I get rid of them if Ad-Aware continually shows
these?

The manual and autoupdates are working again, the latest being Oct 6/06.
I guess we should now close this thread. This is only distantly related to
Windows XP.

For information on how to use Ad-Aware, try their user forum at

I just now was able to update the def files automatically. It did not work
15 minutes ago but it seems to be working now.

Anyone else experiencing problems getting definition updates for AdAware ?
Went to their USA site ( lavasoftusa.com ) which looks like it's been
recently
updated and got the manual file from there. But on several PCs the
internal
AdAware updater just stalls at around ~5%.

No - but then nobody has said which definition file they are trying to get
:)

You can't. Apparently they're having major server problems, and have
decided to ignore any queries about it. Don't know how they figure that's
good for customer relations, but that is the way a lot of companies treat
their userbase these days.

For those who need the latest update (Oct 4/06), I've put a copy here:

http://rapidshare.de/files/35736152/defs_4.10.2006.zip.html

If this isn't allowed in this MS newsgroup, I'm sure they will get around
to deleting it. Otherwise enjoy!

You know there is a problem. Almost certainly they know. Why should they
waste time replying to everyone who emails about the problem, and instead
put the energy into fixing it?

it?

Second in two days. There was one on the 5th and another on the 6th.
