I upgraded to xp from me and now cannot use cd creator.
I have an hp pavilion 7920 . apparently this is not
uncommon. Any simple solutions.

If you are using Adaptec EZ CD Creator v4.x, it is incompatible with WinXP.

You need Roxio v5.3.x and above to be compatible with WinXP.

XP requires Easy CD Creator 5.1 or later. ECDC 5.0.x is upgradeable; 4.x and
before are not.

Adaptec's software line was spun off; support is now at www.roxio.com.

I prefer Nero for most CD burning, but I have the "basic" version of ECDC 6
installed, for those occasions when I need packet writing. I've had poor
luck with InCD, the packet writer that is available with Nero.

Good luck.

Address altered to avoid spam. Replace nkbob with bobkn.

I have been using InCD for about a week and it has been great. What
sort of poor luck have you had?

If you have version 4 and want only the EasyCD Creator part, not Direct
CD, then it is possible to get just that to work as under:

Remove the present software with the tools available. All of it
including DirectCD and TakeTwo. That will leave some orphaned registry
entries: To tidy up, get a registry patch file, cdgone.reg, from
www.aumha.org/downloads/cdgone.zip, extract it, r-click on it and merge
it into the registry

Get the download that brings the version you have up to 4.05

Run your present install CD to install EasyCD Creator *only* - at the
end, without rebooting, run the upgrade, then reboot.

that usually will work: if not you have to look to purchase a later
version. As ver 6 came out not that long back, you might find 5.5 cheap
on closeout
