Hi
Two Questions Please:

Is there any way of stopping the annoying adds that pop up on screen when
visiting various sites. I believe they are called "fly-ins"

I have my IE popup blocker set to "HIGH - block all popups" - Why then do
I get a small icon show up saying that a popup was allowed

Please provide the version of Windows you are using. It will be easier to

Thank you for the information. SP2 has a popup blocker. The popup blocker
that is installed with SP2 is simple to turn on and off and is turned on by
default. It shows up down in the status bar of IE and a simple right click
gives you the option to enable/disable the blocker. One nice feature is that
you can enable/disable popups for certain sites rather than just arbitrarily
enable or disable them for all sites. See: Internet Explorer Popup Manager

However, you likely have adware and/or malware on your system causing the
problem. In addition to updating and running your AV, download, install
and run the programs below in Safe Mode with Hidden Files enabled. This
will remove the nasty you have and any others it may have let in the back
door. Some malware can replicate itself repeatedly if not removed properly,
so even if you have run some of the programs listed here, it is important
that you run them again according to the information below so that Windows
is not operating to hide any files 'in use' Follow all instructions
carefully:

First, Clear the TIF's and empty the recycle bin:

Then do the following:

cleaning:

Next, do an Online scan here (if possible) -

I Do know that SP" has a popup blocker, I a using it and it is set to "High"

Please re-read my original post.

I have done all that you suggested and I do not have any malware or Aware
installed on my computer. I run AVG anti-virus - Spyware Blaster, SpyBot
Search and Destroy, AdaWare SE PLus, AdWatch Monitor (with its own popup
blocker) and Spyware Guard as well as have Microsoft Anti-spyware installed.
All regularly updated and run.

I am particularly concerned with the fact that even with the popup blocker
set to "high" I still get the small icon at the bottom of IE6 screen telling
me that ""popups were allowed""

I know for a fact that my Adaware popup blocker is working because if I
disable it, I do start getting popups.

I can only assume that the IE6 popup blocker is not functioning correctly.
So, do you have any ideas as to how I can repair this.

Lastly, I do not think that a popup blocker will stop the "flyin" ads on
various web pages. Is there any software that will do this.

Sorry....I don't know of any popup blockers that will stop 'fly-ins", but,
that does nto mean there are none, I have just not ever heard of any, as
such. If you are certain you have no adware or malware on your system, and
you are still getting these types of ads, then perhaps there is something on
the sites that you are visiting that is over riding or circumventing your
blocker.
Perhaps someone else here will have more information on this for you.
