I don't know if this question belong in this newsgroup or not.

I administer some servers in a college environment, one is a domain
controller and one is an exhcnage 2000 server. Because one student and one
employee has simular names users have requested that I separate students
from empolyees in different addresslists to prevent mail from ending in the
wrong mailbox. How do I do this? Can I do this in AD or Exchange system
manager? All users is found in the Global Address List. We use Outlook as
the primary mail-client.

In both AD and Exchange you will have to make changes.
In AD Users Properties use one of the Fields to define users as student or
staff (i.e. Description). Then use Exchange System Manager to create Address
lists under Reipient Plolicies\All Address Lists based on the data field
used above.
