activity animation dial_up connection

Hello - I am new to Vista, and have a dial-up internet connection. I can
connect to my ISP no problem.

When connected, there is an icon on the taskbar (right-hand side) for the
dial-up connection. Right-clicking shows an option 'turn on/off activity
animation' .

I cannot see any 'animation' - what or where is it ?

Thanks for all advice

KK I have just installed a new Vista sys with Dial up, and activity animation does not work. Per a post the CRT ICONs should flash green when Xmit/Reec s in XP

KK Also in addition to Activity Animation being inop, I would like to see
the baud rate displayed (XP would display this when cursor was on ICON). I
see nothing to indicate that is available. We, stuck with slow speed dial up
can use that feature, there are times I log on and we are connected at only
14k, I can wait a few minutes and reconnect at 26k (my top speed thanks to
Sprint, line quality is unimportant as long as you can talk satisfactorly)
