Activities tab of the contact properties dialog box

Where can I find information about modifying the activities tab of a contact
folder's properties dialog box. In the activites tab, if you modify the
folder settings for Contacts, what does that do ?

Each activities group shows the items related to a contact from that group's collection of folders. Try it for yourself!

(Outlook 2003) So whether I choose one folder or all folders and their
subfolders, it only affects the searching of activities when a particular
contact is opened to the activities tab ?
I was really trying to figure out the pros and cons of using multiple
Outlook contacts folders versus multiple subfolders. Can you direct me to
more info ?

Yes, that's correct. The activities groups only control what you see in the Activities tab.

Contacts fire reminders only if they're in your default Contacts folder. That's reason enough for me not to use subfolders.

If I create additional Contact folders (not subfolders), what are the pros
and cons of that ? Any limitations ? It seems like when I receive emails and
click on the Look up Contact after right clicking on the From email address,
Outlook no longer can find my contacts. Anyway around that ? All my contacts
folders are enabled as email address books.
That is what I was hoping to get around when I was experimenting with the
activities tab.

I gave you one. Others: Outlook won't automatically save new contacts to subfolders and won't use them in the Find a Contact feature and won't use them for the right-click lookup.

I'm sorry I wasn't clear.
I understand your comments about using subfolders in Contacts.
What I wanted to know was about using multiple Contacts Folders ie. I have
the default folder called Contacts and I have another Contacts folder called
Family. Family is NOT a subfolder of Contacts.
Using these additional folders, I still seem to lose the right-click lookup
from within an email message.
Anyway to get the right-click lookup to work when I have multiple Contacts
folders ?

The same caveats apply regardless of the location of the folders. The full functionality is available only in the default Contacts folder.

Sue,
I have your book, brilliant stuff.
I'm hoping you can help with a deal breaker issue we have with a client.
Can any Outlook client see email activity on Activities Tab of a Contact
that is to/from a different Outlook client?

Environment: Exchange Server 2003 and Outlook 2003.

All Contacts will be stored in a Public Folder on the Exchange Server.
All Outlook clients will have access and be 'connected' to the Exchange
Server.

So, when, for example, I go to a Contact, I'd like to go to the Activities
Tab and see any emails that were sent to or received from that Contact by me
(using my machine), or anyone else's machine (that is also connected to the
Exhange Server).
Thanks in advance!
It's a deal breaker for a custom form application we've put together for a
client.
