active x and securities

Hi, I have xp pro on my notebook. Recently had Blackice fierwall on butit
caused some site problems so I removed it. Now I notive if I go like Windows
update I get an error message sayiing my current security settings prohibit
me from running active x on this page. I have checked and set security to
low and low for cookies as well. Am I on the right track? Thankss,
John

I would not suggest doing that in general via the internet Web Content Zone
as that is a great way to get malware and spyware. Never ever have
privacy/cookies below medium .Instead add Microsoft.com to your trusted Web
Content Zone and then set the security for that zone to low. You may need to
uncheck require server verification if it balks at letting you add a
website. If done correctly you will see that the website is trusted when
there by seeing the trusted sites icon in the lower right hand corner of

Hi
Sorry for the delay in response. I also can't access any secured sites,
like. my banks or credit card sitesss etc. I am still unable to access
windows update.
