Active directory

Chris

Hi,

I installed Win 2000 server recently, and of course there
is a DNS address.

My problem now sometimes when the client are working on
the network they disconnected from the server and they
don't have the right to enter the folder, even if they
use it the same day, when they reboot there machine they
can connect again to the folder or the mapped folder.

Can any one help me please?

Do I have to configure anything with the active directory
for the users?

Do I have to enter the DNS address of the property of
TCP/IP for each client machine?

Thanks

You should setup the DNS server setting on every client. You can do it
by hand, but I would suggest using DHCP for network configuration of the
client computers.

Chris,

You would set up the DHCP Server in WIN2000 ( do not forget to authorize it
with an account that is a member of the Enterprise Admins group ) and then
configure the Options. In most cases Options 003, 006 and 015 are enough.
Then, just make sure that all of your clients are set to get an IP Address
lease from DHCP ( vs. having static IP Addresses ).

Thanks Cary

I didn't setup the server option I just do it, for the
option 006 I give it the IP of the DNS server which is
the local and same machine

But I didn't know what to put in the option 015, and I
didn't find anything in the help

Thanks
