Active Directory Users and Computers name displaying

Inside ADUC when you click on my users container and the
right hand side under the name column it lists the users
login name. I am wanting to change the way it displays
the name. I am wanting it to Display <last> <first
name>. I have been told that if you use adsiedit.msc and
go into the configuration container > Display Specifiers
CN=409 > CN= User Display right click on user display
and goto properties find the attribute create dialog edit
that and insert %<sn> %<givenName> this will display any
future users I create as <last> <first name>. My
question is what about existing users?

Brian,

There is a really awesome tool out there called ADModify
written by a couple of Microsoft guys. Thank God for
these two. BTW - their names are Dan and Marc.

Go to this ftp site to download it:

ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/PSS/Tools/Exchange%20Support%
20Tools/ADModify/

It will take you directly the that file. It is zipped so
you will need WinZip or Aladdin Expander or some other
utilitiy.

As to how to use it? It is actually pretty easy. Take a
look at an article that Mark Fugatt wrote concerning this
issue ( well, as far as how users appear in the Global
Address List ):

http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/MF023.html

It will help you.

HTH,

Cary
