Activation Problem

Bought new notebook. XP-Pro (preload) apparently pre-activated by OEM
(IBM). System Information reports that XP is NOT activated and that
"30-days" remain (same SysInfo as either Admin or User logon).

Attempts to activate (using "oobe..." from RUN) produce a screen that says
XP is activated. As a result there is no phone number or web option to
verify activation.

Won't take this on the road until I know if it's going to quit or
work--meanwhile a couple of thou in hardware & new software stays in home
office. (poor ROI, lousy TCO!) Win98SE on an old clunker is working fine!

Paul;
Reboot to Safe Mode:
Reboot tapping F8 each second.
Select Safe Mode at the menu

Start/Run
Type "regsvr32.exe regwizc.dll" ENTER
Type "regsvr32.exe licdll.dll" ENTER

Reboot.
Activate again
Reboot

Otherwise since the computer is new, contact the manufacturer for warranty
support.
