UK Activation telephone number

HI thanks for reading this. I have a pc with an oem windows xp serial
number. The motherboard crashed prompting a new one which the manufacture
wanted too much for so a local guy fitted me a much cheaper one and
re-installed Windows. It says it is activated but i want to up date it and i
am told it is not genuine. No problem, I want to ring Microsoft and use the
genuine oem COA key but I need the number in the UK to ring please?
I have tried to run the activation programme to get it but it simply says
that it is activated. I tried the key change software from Microsoft but it
doesn't like the oem number. I researched this on the net and apparantly if
i explain all this to a rep from Microsoft they will probably activate it
over the phone for me.
So UK number please, or how to force Windows to re run the activation tool,
I only want to be legal and safe!
TIA
Chris

Your OEM copy of win is likely tied to the origonal hardware (that included
the mobo) as such it died with your mobo. so you cannot use your OEM key (If
you had bought a mobo from sys manu it would have been ok)
You need to purchase a retail winxp, or convert a your none genuine copy to
genuine via MS

Thanks for the reply. I have done my research though and Microsoft will
accept that a replacement motherboard is not always a good enough reason to
have to purchase a new software licence. If i had the telephone number I
could prove it.
