Activation problem with XP Pro

Odd 1 this. Trying to activate my fiance's XP Professional with SP3. She's
getting prompted to activate within 60 days and when she clicks on the star?
(she said that's what it looks like) the activation screen isn't appearing at
all. Just sits there and does nothing. Tried typing oobe/msoobe /a via
start/run and nothing appears either.

I got instructions to change the key and validate windows online which I
have done for her (using keys from my technet for her) She can't see the
screen though.

(that screen should be coming up allowing her to activate online) it's not
appearing at all. She's not computer literate and I can't be there to help
her as there's a massive distance between us

The star is WGA. She needs to click on the icon that looks like keys.
From what you say, it appears she has been stung by a false positive
from WGA, probably because she went to Windows Updates and installed
WGA. WGA saw that she isn't activated yet and the star appears saying
Windows isn't "genuine". I'm so glad I left Windows for Ubuntu.
