For some reason every time I turn on my computer now
Windows is asking me to activate it. Anyone have an idea
how to stop this? It is a copy that came with my computer
a year ago and worked fine until yesterday. That is when
is started to ask me to activate the software. BTW I might
have deleted a file by accident. It was a file that said
that there was nothing in it. I have no idea if this has
anything to do with it or not.

Thanks for any help.

Did you activate as requested?
If it will not let you activate by internet, choose the option for
phone activation.
Call the displayed number to Microsoft, done in about 5 minutes.

I did activate as requested by phone both yesterday and
today. Once I got the code the system is working fine. The
problem is when I turn it off, it will ask to be activated
again.

You may need to perform a Repair Installation.
But first contact the computer manufacturer to see if they have a
solution.

Greetings --

It may be that your activation has become "unregistered." Try
this solution, posted by Carey Frisch, MS-MVP:

Possible Resolution:

Boot into "Safe Mode" by pressing (F8) during a reboot.

Go to Start > Run and type: regsvr32 regwizc.dll , and hit enter.
Then go again to Start > Run and type: regsvr32 licdll.dll , and
hit enter again.

Hello Quaan
You can also try renaming the wpa.bak and wpa.dbl files. A new file will
be generated on the subsequent boot, when you activate the next time and
you will have to activate with a new file, it should work and not require
activations following boots.
