Activation Help

Hello, I tried upgrading to Windows Vista with the upgrade feature. This
caused my computer to crash causing me to choose Clean Install. When I tried
to activate with my key, it told me this key could only be used with the
upgrade feature. How can I get in touch with Microsoft for free, I refuse to
pay 59 dollars. Thanks!

If you purchased Vista retail the support phone number is just inside the
back page of your Quick Start Guide. If you bought OEM you get no support
via phone.

Do a clean install of Home Basic AND DO NOT ENTER A CD KEY. Once you're
up and running, run the install again from within Windows and this time
enter the CD Key.

What he (Conor) said. It works for ALL versions of Vista. It's not "wrong"
or 'unethical' to do it that way either. MS built that in. Of cours, if
you're doing it to get a clean install and NEVER HAD and upgradeable OS on
your machine, that wouldn't be right. But in your case, as described, no
problems doing it that way. bi-line too.
