Activation and Phone # problem

My xp disc is original to my computer. After trying several things to try and
fix a problem in the device manager that hasn't allowed me to get on the
internet in weeks, I decided to reinstall xp. Get to the activation page and
still can't connect to the internet. I then tried calling the two numbers but
nothing. You don't hear it ring or anything--just dead silence. So since my
computer is over 5 yrs aol, I am thinking the #s have changed. Since I can't
even get into the system now w/o reactivating I am at a loss---any working
phone # would greatly be appreciated.

A repair installation or a clean installation (Where you deleted partitions
in the process)?
Did you install the drivers origonally supplied with your PC?
From recollection, windows should function for xx uses / days even if not
activated

It was a repair I thought but it did not have a choice listed as thus--so I
marked reinstall. I did not reformat.
If you mean my Dell disc of drivers, it also said it could not find them.
When windows did the personalization, it asked for user names so I did mine
as LindaG. When it went to log on page, it already had lkzg, which is mine so
I selected that one. That is the admin one and I must have gotten confused by
adding my name. Do u understand what I am trying to say?

You need to go to Dell and download and install the appropriate drivers.

Take it to a reputable computer repair service.

: How do I do that if I can't get into my computer? Sorry if that sounds
dumb.

Do you have all the disks that were origonally supplied with your PC?
Usually that would be a Winxp or recovery cd and a drivers cd

Use another system, in the same way that you are posting your questions.

On the back or bottom of your Dell, there's a Service Tag number. Go to
Dell Support, enter that number, and you'll find all the drivers specific to
your system. Get the basic network, chipset, and video drivers, save them
to disk, and install them.

I have all the original discs but if I can't access anything w/o activating
xp--dumb ?--but how am I able to install drivers or anything? If I don't give
it the a.code, it just backs out to the log on box. I tried both names listed
but still couldn't get on w/o activating.
