Activating XP on a new computer?

Hi,

I have a copy of XP professional which I had purchased
awhile back, and installed it on which was at that time my
only computer. 3 wks ago that computer died. It wasn't
worth repairing, so I bought a new computer. I actualy had
one built, and gave them my copy of XP to install. Now when
I try to activate Windows, it's saying that I reached my
limit of activation.

Is there a way to activate this copy of Windows? I'm not
trying to run the same copy on 2 machines; my old computer
will never be used again.

Thanks for any info

CJW, Carey is right you will have to call Microsoft to get a new activation code. Regardless that you purchased Windows Xp Pro, whenever you upgrade a computer or in your circumstance purchased a new computer the previous activation code recoginizes settings from your old computer. So, you will have to call Microsoft to acquire a new one inorder to use your licensed copy on your new computer. Hope that helps.
