Too funny, you wonder why a hacked key won't activate?
Try purchasing one
can you tell me why a hacked key won't activate? also do you know
were i can get a key that i can activate without having to buy
another copy of windows xp pro.
Sally,
I did explain this in the other response to this post in pretty simple
terms.

What is wrong?
First - you posted a product key that you may believe to be valid
on a world-wide distributed newsgroup. If it was valid - it
probably wouldn't be soon after that.
Second - it was a cracked/hacked/RC1 product key from way back...
http://groups.google.com/group/alt.cracks/msg/c935ceb671930dd8?&hl=en&q=windows+xp+64+product+key
http://old.bink.nu/newsflash/2001/12.htm
So it is not valid.
A "hacked" product key is one that is illegitmate, probably stolen/generated
to make a product function. It's like going into a police station with a
fake ID and knowing they are going to run it through several different
systems to make sure it is valid. Your chances of getting away with it are
slim to none.
In your case - it isn't that it is hacked that is your main issue - but that
the key and copy of Windows XP that you are running are not even
full-release products. This is a release candidate product you have
installed and are running. If you have been running this for some time - my
only guess is that you just started trying to get updates/connected to the
Internet.
If you just got this from somoneone - they sold it to you - then they sold
it to you under false pretenses (unless they told you, "This copy of Windows
XP is not the full version and you cannot use it in the same way you would a
full/legitimate copy/license...")
