Has anyone used the new upgrade yet. If so is it worth it ?
Blair

Hello,

If you visit Wilders Security Forum, there is an ongoing discussion
about TI 9. Many comments worth noting.

My own personal experience with the upgrade is that it corrupted my
archive, something no TI version I purchased has ever done before (6, 7,
and 8).

I requested my money be returned and am reinstalling version 8.

I have not upgraded from ver.8,but I have read a few days ago that the
changes in ver.9 are minor and really not worth it.

I have installed version 9 which is not a big upgrade if you have already
installed all the patches but nonetheless has some neat new features. A
disadvantage is that after installation none of my existing Acronis
schedules would work: all had to be deleted and rewritten.
The Disaster Recovery using F11 is promising however I have not been able to
get it to work from an incremental backup only from a single backup.
It is worth the rather low upgrade price for the new disaster recovery
features.

I id not find that it corrupted existing images as reported by Dingle
above.

I doubt the upgrade corrupted your backup. I had no problems whatsoever.

The one big advantage is that you can boot (from another partition)
using the f11 key.
However, I have a bug in that I cannot backup (make an image) this way
when using a password. I get an error message that the "passwords do not
match".

Actually, you doubt slightly too soon. Other folks are experiencing
archive corruptions with TI 9. In fact, on Wilder's Forum the Acronis
support tech acknowledges the problem and said Acronis is working on a
fix.

From what I understand, the promised ability to write DVDs is not
there. I can't see paying the $30 upgrade fee for no added
capabilities.

How can Acronis corrupt a file that the installation doesn't touch?
Not being able to read an archive with the newer software is a different
matter (but I've had no problems).

Maybe upon initial access the new version of the program corrupts the
archive? Possible?
