ACE HTML

Not too long ago there was a link posted to obtain a free copy of ACE HTML

I'm sure many here took advantage of the freebie.

Of those who did download it and in the end used it (and still are) was it
good enough to replace your previous HTML Editor.
What about getting flooded with emails from Dynamic Drive (if you didn't use
a fake addy)?
Mostly though, how do you find the program and is it missing anything an
HTML Editor really should have?
What made you go back to your previous editor if that is the case.

Yes, it served my needs at least as well as the current payware program
that I commonly use.

I used a fake email address. I haven't checked that account to see if
I've received any messages from Dynamic Drive.

Some HTML editors have built-in javascripts, DHTML scripts, Perl
scripts, CGI's and CSS that can be accessed by menu bars or button bars
and inserted directly into the code of the page. IMHO, there are never
enough of these included in any HTML editor.

Again, IMHO, an HTML editor does not require an FTP module. Most
designers already have a favorite FTP program (that already has all the
required access data entered into it) and never use the the one
included with the HTML editor.

One idea that would be nice are buttons that could be configured to
open programs like the favored FTP program or various browsers or
Notepad...

What made you go back to your previous editor if that is the case.

The sad truth is that my primary editor is FrontPage. I advised him to
use Open Office and a freeware HTML editor, but he wanted to be
compatible with the software that the kids are using in college so the
learning curve would be little or none if new employees are ever hired.
You should've seen his face when the bill arrived for all those copies
of Office---there won't be any new employees THIS year!

He is the employer---that does NOT mean that he is smart...

I take the other point of view - I was disappointed to find ACEhtml does
not include an FTP client.

I want to upload a file after working on it, not open a new prog.

Of course I expect any FTP prog, in or out of an HTML editor, to connect
immediately with preloaded data
