At the DOS prompt

Microsoft(R) Windows DOS
(C)Copyright Microsoft Corp 1990-2001.

C:\DOCUME~1\GARY~1.EBO>net user

User accounts for \\EBONY

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Administrator ASPNET Gary
Guest HelpAssistant Ray
SUPPORT_388945a0
The command completed successfully.

At the time I installed WindowsXP Home, I created Gary, Guest and Ray.
But, my question is about the accounts ASPNET, HelpAssistant and
SUPPORT_388945a0. What are the purpose of these accounts and are they
needed? Are any of these for remote access? Can any or all be safely
deleted? (I have a home Ethernet LAN, connected to a Vista PC, Mac,
and Linux box if that makes any difference.) If I do a clean
install will these accounts be there?

Leave these accounts - they are system accounts that are created
automatically at install time.

When you open a Command Prompt, use cmd.exe, not command.com.
Command.com is a legacy command processor that goes back to
this old operating system called DOS, introduced some thirty years
ago. When you use it you deprive yourself of a lot of functionality.

Thanks. And I didn't realize there was a difference between cmd and
command.
