Accidental installation of additional version of XP OS

Can anyone help a friend of mine who has somehow managed
to install two versions of XP by mistake. He is unable
to access the original version containing all his
files/folders, there is just a blank black screen. The
second version is usable but he cannot access any
previous files and cannot get access to the Internet -
presumet Internet Explorer is not working (hence my
posting this e-mail on his behalf!). Also when he goes
into My Computer there is an additional F drive which
wasn't there before.

His computer initially crashed with a blue screen saying
Fatal Error so I believe he then tried to reinstall XP
using the CD ROMs provided when he bought the computer.

A local computer technician has been unable to fix the
problem.

Any help would be very much appreciated. Many thanks.

Install xp cd,restart or start computer, boot from cd
when the text appears, then select recovery,if asked for
password just press enter on keyboard,at recovery, get
into wanted drive with old XP,then type:DiskPart /?
The /delete cmd should remove the new xp install, recovery
is limited,go to search at microsoft,type:307654
I think the cmd is:volume F: /delete
