Accessing Network Share Problem

B

Barry McConomy

Hi

I have 2 Windows XP Pro workstations on a LAN.

I try to connect to a share and get the message as shown below.

The network cabling, transport, protocols are all working and tested.

Permissions are Full Control to Everyone

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards
Barry

network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if
you have access permissions.

Logon failure: the user has not been granted the requested logon type at

Did you first run the Network Setup Wizard? If yes, when you ran the
wizard, did you make sure any firewalls, including the XP firewall and any
other security software were turned off? During the Wizard, the user is
asked how this computer connects to the Internet. An incorrect response can
cause the problem you describe. Usually, the correct response is the
"Gateway" response as opposed to "Hub."

If none of the above helps, please take this question to the
windowsxp.network_web newsgroup.

Hi Michael

I did run the Wizard, but I can't remember which Internet access method I
selected.

I will run the wizard again on both workstations and select the Gateway/Hub
method.

Many thanks
Barry

1. Click Start | Run.

2. Type "secpol.msc" in the box and click OK.

3. Double click "Access this computer from the network" and make sure
that the "Everyone" group is listed.

3. Double click "Deny access to this computer from the network" and
make sure that the "Everyone" group is NOT listed.
