Problem: Unable to access high-speed cable modem via
laptop.
I have a laptop running Windows XP Home Edition version
2002 Service Pack 1. I utilize RoadRunner (Time Warner)
High Speed cable from home to access the internet. (Right
now I am utilizing my desktop). I have set up a dial-up
access to RoadRunner on my laptop(for when I am away from
my home cable modem) which works just fine.
However, I cannot seem to access the high-speed cable
modem/internet from my laptop. My 'Network Conections'
screen shows the above-referenced 'dial-up', and shows Lan
or High-Speed Internet as 'enabled'. Yet, if I click on
the IE icon, for example, it will only try to 'dial-up' as
opposed to using the connection for the cable modem.
I would appreciate any suggestions as to how I can easily
access my cable modem/high-speed internet connection.
Thank you.
