Accessing HTTPS Sites

I recently upgraded to IE6 and am experiencing difficulty
accessing https sites. Whenever I try IE shuts down and
I'm asked to notify MS about an Schannel.dll page fault.

I've gone to MS and learned the recommended solution is to
reinstall the Schannel.dll file from my installation CD.
When I do that, my cipher strength goes from 128 to 40
bits and I still cannot access https sites.

I've reinstalled IE6 3 times and experience the same
problem with each installation. If you've got the solution
for this problem please let me know.
