Accessing Help

Hi,

Have XP home, fully upto date. Just cleaned out registry with Max Registry
cleaner, got rid of old .dlls and removed redundant files etc. Gone too far!.
When I press ' Help and Support' nothing happens, same with System
Information and the 'troublshoot' button on any hardware device. Believe
these are connected. How do I get them back?

Hi granthor,
Yet another classic example of how registry cleaners cause damage to the system. Does the "Max Registry cleaner" has an undo feature? If not, you may try rolling back the system state using System Restore.

From "Max Registry Cleaner" help. I Googled it for you.

<quote>

What is a Recover option and how to use it?
Max Registry Cleaner scans the invalid entries and deletes them. Max Registry Cleaner takes the backup of all these deleted entries which can be recovered in case of emergency.

Max Registry Cleaner Support : What is a Recover option and how to use it?:

no, cleaned that out as well. There must be a way to put back the 'Help and
Support' launch. The program is running(and the others to) but I cannot
access them

Click Start, Run and type "%systemroot%\inf". Right-click the file PCHealth.inf file and choose "Install". Insert your XP CD when prompted. If you have a Service Pack installed, be sure to point to the %Windir%\i386\ServicePackFiles folder or your slipstreamed XP CD (if available).

If that does not help, here is the comprehensive rebuild method for Help and Support. http://windowsxp.mvps.org/rebuildhelp.htm
